In order to hesitate to give thanks…it would be the equivalent …of not regarding the work of Jesus on the cross!

Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High.
Psalm 50:14

Do you mean to tell me that God considers our giving thanksgiving a sacrifice?  He does and He says take it and pay your vows with it!   Do you realize how powerful that is?   That means that you can take it and make good what needs to be made good; to right the wrongs…to bring balance…to correct some things!

Praise God!

It’s a currency.   Everyone can understand that.  God will receive it as a necessary payment for the “thing” that is bothering you.   But, you must have a sincere heart.  It’s not religion, it’s not a quick fix,…a sincere heart is necessary!

A lot of people hesitate to give thanks.  Especially in the midst of adversity.  That’s too bad…because it’s the answer that they need.  Doesn’t seem relevant to many…but God says pay your vows with it!

Most people try to use their mental expertise to figure things out and when they do…they get in trouble.  It just doesn’t make sense to them that thanking God before they get an answer can be of any use to them.  So they get the “Thanks Hesitation Syndrome.”

I call it THS!  THS can hold you back, pull you out of faith, make you turn cynical, make you begin to doubt God and worst of all; it can delay your answer or your breakthrough.  Now…if that’s what you want…you know ho to get it!

If it’s not what you want  (it’s certainly not what I want) then you know what to do:

For everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving. 1 Timothy 4: 4

“I was unable to have a thankful heart when my life was mediocre; but God resurrected my life and  heart! ”  Elaine Davenport

I have so much to be thankful for.

“The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.”   Eric Hoffer

What a journey I have had in my life.  Yet…I made it through.  I am thankful to God for sending His only Son to redeem me,  allowing me to have a close relationship with Him, my salvation, restoration, deliverance, victories, healing, confidence, peace, wisdom, strengthening faith, wonderful friendships that I have never had, a great and close family, leading me and guiding me and always being available.

Sad movies always made me cry.  I always wanted the underdog to win in movies or sports.  I was taught to be polite.  But, having a thankful heart on a continuous basis was going to be a greater challenge.     Even when our family celebrated Thanksgiving when I was growing up…there was not a lot of talk about the reason we should be thankful.    I was never taught to have a heart of thanks and I do not know if it can be taught.

God helped me  a lot with this by showing me unconditional Love; that Love resurrected my heart.  The bible says:

O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His doings among the peoples!
1 Chronicles 16: 8

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
1 Thessalonians 5: 18

And in that day you will say, Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name and by means of His name [in solemn entreaty]; declare and make known His deeds among the peoples of the earth, proclaim that His name is exalted! Isaiah 12: 4

Bless, give thanks, and gratefully praise God in full congregations, even the Lord, O you who are from [Jacob] the fountain of Israel. Psalm 68: 26

Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God]. Ephesians 5: 4

For all [these] things are [taking place] for your sake, so that the more grace (divine favor and spiritual blessing) extends to more and more people and multiplies through the many, the more thanksgiving may increase [and redound] to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4: 15

Why A Thankful Heart?
That’s easy…when the heart is full of joy…it speaks in gratitude!    Mine is.
