Father, I thank You for strengthening my faith!

I was so excited!  It was time for my high school reunion!  I could not wait to go.   I was expecting a baby when it was time for the ten year Reunion.  This was the twenty year mark and I was not going to miss it for anything.  And then, the unthinkable happened.

A friend called me to tell me that one of the Reunion Committee members had called my house when I wasn’t at home and had put out a horrible rumor about my family.  I listened to the words and because of the inaccuracy; I knew that it was a lie.

How did I handle it?  I wanted vindication!  This was a terrible miscarriage of justice.  First off, I only vaguely knew the person and I was hurt.   I called them and had them to recount the story that I had been told.  After they finished, I was kind but I seriously countered with all of the inaccuracies that they were stating.  I got off of the phone and gave it to God.  I began to be bombarded with thoughts about certain humiliation that I would face if I were to attend the Reunion.  I went anyways and had a great time.

After the conversation, the person decided not to go on with the story.  I admit that I did not forgive them right away.  It would have been better for me if I had.  I am thankful that we serve a God of mercy.  That He loves me despite my flaws.  That He is a forgiving God.  That He included me in His plans.  I am so thankful!    He is an excellent God!  Yes, He is!

Psalm 8

1O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
