Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Proverbs 19:21

I meet so many people of all ages who want to find their purpose.  I often wonder if more people do not find their purpose…than those that do?  It’s not my answer to call.

Just look at the world around you,  take a close look at the careers, choices, lifestyles and habits of those that you know or observe and ask yourself if you think they are truly living the plan that God has for their lives.  Do you think that you are?   I truly hope that by now you have found your purpose and that you are walking in it and feeling fulfilled.  I cannot tell you what your purpose is.

I believe that God has many purposes for me and the amazing thing is that I may have stumbled into it as a result of so many missed steps and detours.  I just do not believe in coincidences…but I find myself pursuing a dream that has laid dormant in my heart for many years and I have great peace about it.

I am very thankful to God because only He could whisper in my ear over and over the way that He has; convincing me that I am walking in His plan for my life!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  JEREMIAH 29: 11

“I was unable to have a thankful heart when my life was mediocre; but God resurrected my life and  heart! ”  Elaine Davenport

I have so much to be thankful for.

“The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings.”   Eric Hoffer

What a journey I have had in my life.  Yet…I made it through.  I am thankful to God for sending His only Son to redeem me,  allowing me to have a close relationship with Him, my salvation, restoration, deliverance, victories, healing, confidence, peace, wisdom, strengthening faith, wonderful friendships that I have never had, a great and close family, leading me and guiding me and always being available.

Sad movies always made me cry.  I always wanted the underdog to win in movies or sports.  I was taught to be polite.  But, having a thankful heart on a continuous basis was going to be a greater challenge.     Even when our family celebrated Thanksgiving when I was growing up…there was not a lot of talk about the reason we should be thankful.    I was never taught to have a heart of thanks and I do not know if it can be taught.

God helped me  a lot with this by showing me unconditional Love; that Love resurrected my heart.  The bible says:

O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His doings among the peoples!
1 Chronicles 16: 8

Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
1 Thessalonians 5: 18

And in that day you will say, Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name and by means of His name [in solemn entreaty]; declare and make known His deeds among the peoples of the earth, proclaim that His name is exalted! Isaiah 12: 4

Bless, give thanks, and gratefully praise God in full congregations, even the Lord, O you who are from [Jacob] the fountain of Israel. Psalm 68: 26

Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency) nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt) talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming; but instead voice your thankfulness [to God]. Ephesians 5: 4

For all [these] things are [taking place] for your sake, so that the more grace (divine favor and spiritual blessing) extends to more and more people and multiplies through the many, the more thanksgiving may increase [and redound] to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4: 15

Why A Thankful Heart?
That’s easy…when the heart is full of joy…it speaks in gratitude!    Mine is.
